Jozy Fine Art Newsletter September/October 2014![]() First Show of the 2015 Season… Karen North Wells: After the FallI am so excited to announce the first show of the 2015 season. For those who didn’t know, Karen had a terrible fall last winter that resulted in fractures to both wrists. Not good news for an artist! Everyone who knows her is so pleased that she has made a full recovery, and Jozy Fine Art will present new work by this well-known local artist on Saturday, May 23, 2015, 5-7pm. Karen’s work will be shown for several weeks surrounding this reception. ![]() Another Shaler Reception Just Booked!Lynn Shaler’s exquisite, fine, limited edition etchings are shown in the Shaler Room throughout the season. I’ve just booked Lynn for a 2015 reception on Saturday, August 8, and a discussion of her work the following afternoon, Sunday, August 9, 2:00pm. Mark you calendars so you don’t miss her show, talk, or the new etching she’s working on right now. ![]() Surprises for the 2015 Season! In October I was in Wertheim Am Main, Germany, and for an entire day I visited glass factories, museums, and stores. This town is famous in Germany for its glass, housing more than 5,000 artisans. The lampwork beads were beautiful, and I brought back many samples for Jayne Capps to include in her popular hand-crafted jewelry that I’ll show in the gallery in 2015. Jayne has told me that she’s working on other pieces to include mahjong tiles, new trade beads, Czech glass (both vintage and new,) and new art beads (raku and lampwork.) I know you’ll be as excited as I always am when her new work arrives. I’ll host a show featuring Jayne’s work in June or July, but her work will always be available during the season. Fine art photographer L. Robert Jasper went to Portugal on a photo shoot in September, 2014. His images from that trip will be shown in several formats during the season. He accompanied fellow fine art photographer Lou Clark on a two-week river cruise from Budapest, through Austria and Germany, to Amsterdam in October. Their work from that adventure, that included a stormy, twelve-foot rise in the Danube, will be featured in an exhibition and reception during the summer. Much as in the 2014 season, I will have musical entertainment during many of the receptions. Working on those bookings now. Look for the April newsletter for updates! ![]() The CHAOS… Construction of a traffic rotaryNO – not the title of an exhibition! Merchants, restaurants, and other business owners continue to suffer from the road construction that is supposed to improve the traffic situation at our busy intersection. Work started September 2nd and continued through early November. We’ve been driving on cinders through pot holes, and there were days I had to wait an hour just to get into the Jozy Fine Art parking lot. Construction starts again April 1st, and I’m hoping for a Memorial Day completion date! ![]() View our Gallery “By Appointment”While we’re closing for the season, we have an extensive inventory of fine art available for showing by appointment during the winter months. Please call Jozy at 508-348-9726 to schedule a time to stop by for a special showing in our gallery. Our website features a few of the works available in the “Artists” section. We are Cape Cod’s exclusive gallery for Lynn Shaler’s Aquatint Etchings – always more than 25 limited edition prints on display! ![]() Many galleries, but not all, are closed for the season. My vision for Jozy Fine Art is a gallery that will present work from artists long collected while providing a venue for new talent struggling for attention. I like themes, so we’ll use some of my favorites to feature oils and acrylics, aquatint etching, fine art photography, and handcrafted jewelry. The gallery space is open and comfortable – meant to welcome all visitors… Jozy |
