Jozy Fine Art’s first season has ended. It was both joyous and frustrating. My eternal gratitude goes out to all of my many friends, old and new, who visited the gallery and learned to love the etchings, photography, oils, and jewelry that I displayed this year. I am especially grateful to the constant support I received from the Nauset Middle School Exercise Class led by Brendan Guttmann.
The season began with our “Friends and Family” exhibit then the Grand Opening in May. These well-attended events gave everyone the opportunity to get to know the gallery and the work that’s shown.
The June and July shows were great. June’s event featured fine art photography by L. Robert Jasper and Lou Clark followed in July by the artwork work of Iva Liebert. It was so much fun to introduce Iva’s New England friends to the gallery. Many returned throughout the summer to see her internationally collected work.
August was a banner month with an exhibit of Lynn Shaler’s etchings. Many of her collectors enjoyed viewing the show and visiting Lynn. Sunday, Lynn presented a detailed explanation of her work with big screen photographs that punctuated the exquisite detail of her etchings. The show included the greatly admired photography of France by Jasper and Clark It was a grand weekend.
Both the Labor Day and Columbus Day shows hosted big crowds; many attending for their second or third visit. Otherwise, September and October were slow months – a lesson for next season. The Christmas show on December 7th featuring the one-of-a-kind jewelry of Jayne Capps was not as well attended as we wished. There were many activities that weekend that kept visitors busy elsewhere.
Again, thank you to those whose help and support I received this year. I couldn’t have succeeded without it. You know who you are. I’m looking forward to our 2014 May opening. Watch the website for updates of next season’s events… Jozy
